Cain and Abel
God gave to the first couple two sons, Cain and Abel. These two brothers were very different from each other. Abel kept flocks, and Cain worked the soil. In the course of time Cain brought some of the fruits of the soil as an offering to the Lord. Abel brought fat portions from some of the firstborn of his flock. The Lord looked with favor on Abel and his offering but on Cain and his offering he did not look with favor. So Cain was very angry and his face was downcast. Now Cain said to his brother Abel: "Let's go out to the field." And while they were there in the field, Cain attacked his brother and killed him. And God cursed Cain and said that he would live as a stranger and forever wandering the earth. God put a mark on Cain to prevent anyone who found him from killing him. Cain killed his brother just because his own deeds were bad and his brother's were just.
